Privacy Policy

As long as the law allows it, we don't sell or give out any public or private personal information about our current or past policyholders or claimants to any affiliated or non-affiliated third party. We only do this to handle your insurance coverage or claim.

At Policyian, we know that one of the most important parts of our relationship is your trust that we will keep your personal health and financial details private. Our promise to you is to give you the best insurance goods and the best service possible. We get specific information from you so that we can place your insurance with companies that will give you the best discounts on premiums and meet any coverage needs that are unique to you. We need to know specific things about you in order to do this, but we also care a lot about your privacy. Because of this, Policyian promises to keep that information safe and secret.

A certain amount of information about yourself is given to Policyian when you ask for insurance. This information is gathered by Policyian on behalf of the insurance companies we work with through our licensed agents and staff. We get most of the information we need straight from you on forms that the insurance company, general agency, or broker needs in order to consider your insurance request. These groups all have privacy policies that are close to ours, but not exactly the same. We plan to only work with companies that will handle your personal information with the same care that we do. However, we can't promise that this will always be the case. If you give information to another organization, that organization is legally required to keep it safe and will send you a copy of their privacy policy.

As the law allows, our Privacy Policy only covers how we collect, use, and share information that we get from you. Because of this, it is American Insurance's policy.

  • To collect only the information necessary or relevant to our business;
  • To make a reasonable effort to ensure that the information we act upon is accurate, relevant, timely, and complete
  • To use only legitimate means to collect information;
  • To make personal information available externally only to respond to legitimate business needs, to regulatory or other governmental authorities, or as otherwise permitted by law; and
  • Limit employee access to personally identifiable information to those who have a business reason for knowing such information.

As required by state and federal law, we must now send you this notice once a year. It explains what kinds of information Policyian or its agents may collect, what they do with that information once they have it, and how you can see what information we have about you.

What kind of personal information do we collect about you and from whom?

We get most of our information from you, the customer, at American Insurance. We usually get most of the information we need from the application you fill out and any other information you give us. We may also get personal information from other deals you make with us, our service providers, or other people. There are times when we may call or mail you to get more information. ? Depending on the type of insurance you want, we may need more information from you or other people you want to be covered. To get car insurance, we might need details from the records of motor vehicles. For property coverages, we may send someone to look at your place and confirm what we know about its condition and value. It's possible to take a picture of the thing that needs to be protected. We might look over insurance claims data and other loss data records. To fix some claims, we might also get medical or financial data.

Third parties, like other insurance companies, government agencies, information clearinghouses, judges, and public records, may give us the extra information we need. We might get information about your credit from a consumer reporting service or an investigative consumer report. We will let you know if we order an independent consumer credit report, as required by state law and the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). You have the right under the FCRA to ask to be asked in person if we order a consumer report for an investigation. Please write to us and ask for a copy of the report. We will give it to you or tell you how to get it. As allowed by law, the company that makes our customer report can keep it and give it to other people as well.

What do we do with the personal information collected about you?

We may keep the personal information we collect about you in our records as well as the records of your insurance company for which we apply for coverage on your behalf. It's something we look at when we decide whether to cover you and set your rates. This kind of information will also be used and referred to in our policy records so that we can service insurance policies and settle claims. We keep information about our former customers in our files because insurance departments require us to and so that we can handle claims that come in after the policy ends. We may also use the information we have about you in our files for insurance marketing purposes or to help you with your overall insurance program.

If coverage is declined or the charges for coverage is increased because of information contained in a consumer report we obtained, the insuring company will tell you as required by state law and the FCRA. They also will give you the name and address of the consumer reporting agency making the report.

How do we protect the confidentiality of personal information in our records?

Policyian follows the right security steps and uses a range of physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to keep your personal information safe and private. These safeguards keep unauthorized people from accessing your information, no matter where it is stored. We also make sure that only employees who need to know personally identifiable information for work reasons can see it. Policyian also thinks it's important to teach its workers about how important it is to keep personal information private and to make sure that employees follow through on their privacy duties.

To whom do we disclose personal information about you?

We don't give out personal information about our customers or past customers unless the law lets us. That means that if we have to, we may give or share information about you with the following types of third parties without your permission:

  • Any insurance company, general agency, or broker that provides us access to insurance markets;

  • Medical care institutions or medical professionals to verify coverage or conduct an audit of services;
  • Insurance regulatory agencies in connection with the regulation of our business;
  • Law enforcement or other governmental authorities to protect our legal interests or in cases of suspected fraud or illegal activities;
  • Authorized persons as ordered by a subpoena, warrant or other court order or as required by law;
  • Certificate holders or policyholders for the purpose of providing information regarding the status of an insurance transaction
  • Lienholders, mortgagees, lessors, or other persons shown on our records as having a legal or beneficial interest in your policy.

How can you find out about the personal information we have about you?

You have the right to know what kinds of information we keep about you, to be able to see them, and to get a copy of them. If you want to know what personal information we may have on file, you can get in touch with us in any of the ways listed at the end of this notice. Help us understand what you want to know. You don't have to be given some types of information that is usually collected when claims or future lawsuits are looked at. We will send you a letter within 30 business days of receiving your request describing the type and amount of personal information about you that can be found, retrieved, and made available in our records. You can look at this information in person, or for a small fee, you can get a copy. You can reach us if you think the personal information we have on file about you should be changed, deleted, or corrected after you have looked it over. Explain why you believe something is wrong. We will let the people you choose whom we have already shared the information about the change or your comment. When we make further disclosures, your comment will also be included.
